Model of the Imperial yacht "Transport Royal"
The Emperor's 12 gun yacht was built in England in 1695 and designed
by Lord Karmanten. In 1698 King William III gave the yacht to Peter
the Great as a present to commemorate the everlasting friendship
between Russia and England. The yacht was assigned to the Russian
Fleet and was used both as a messenger vessel and to transport the
Tsar and his family.
This model was built in 2004 by the Champion of Russia Alexey Baranov
and is made from Pear, Ebony, Bocote and other exotic woods. It
features very detailed paintings and carvings and the metal accessories
are made from brass.
Archived ship plans and draughts from the Central Naval Museum
of St. Petersburg as well as the admiralty model ship given to the
Tsar were used during the construction of this model.
