Model of the Linear ship "Poltava"

Poltava

The first Russian linear 54 - gun ship "Poltava".

"Poltava" became the first "true" linear ship of the Baltic fleet and the first ship constructed in St.-Petersburg.

Poltova was named after the famous victory of the Russians over the Swedish armies under King Charles the 12th. Master shipwright M Skyaev supervised the construction but it was Tsar Peter Pervyj (under the pseudonym Peter Mihajlov) who was in charge of her construction. The vessel was launched on June 15th, 1712 in the presence of the Tsar.

Poltova actively participated in all of the large sea battles of the Northern War and was the flag ship of the Tsar Peter the Great. It served in the Russian fleet for more than 20 years which was a longer service life than other vessels.

In 2008 master Kapinos Igor began construction of the ship Poltova. It is being made from Pear and Ebony. The decor is made from brass and silver and artificial aging techniques have been used.
